Pain Management Workshop
Your Fantastic Fascia and How to Find it (OOH! A 3 Hour Tour)
2025 Venue, TBD

Dancers, perhaps more than any other high performance athletes, need to be able to perform lifts, pushes, pulls, and movements at different velocities, and are expected to express gymnastic ability and elegance every step. Dancers need rhythm, balance, dexterity, flexibility, and highly refined coordination and sense of timing to execute choreography with high standards and full expression.

Where is your greatest strength coming from? How about your greatest challenge to coordination, balance, physical health and muscle timing?
In most of the research, the focus is still on muscles. But is there something more? What if you were told there was a tissue that had 10 times the number of nerve endings that register pain as compared with its muscular counterpart? What if you learned that there was a tissue that had a tensile strength stronger than steel, that can make or hinder your coordination and balance, and that it wasn't your muscles? And what if you discovered that the answer to higher jumps, better timing, more expression, and better joint articulation, could be improved outside of basic training? Is it possible you might not be fully accessing the strength you've already got?
Enter stage left your new secret weapon
(that's been there with you all along): Fascia
What are you working to improve?
What's not quite right?
What is good that could be better?
If something feels not quite right in your body, you have a much higher probability of solving the issue if you’re working with a muscle detective. Especially one that knows about Fascia, inside and out, (and superficial to deep!).
